Words from the Captain

A man of few words.. an article will be coming here soon. Watch this space!

Green jackets were introduced in the year 2000 at the Ladies Night, at the time Robert Weston introduced Jackets to all previous Captains and since then each elected Captain receives a green jacket at the start of their year.

The green jacket is based on what is awarded to the winner at the masters competition in the USA .

If any captain or ex captain does not wear his jacket at a WHOGS golf day, he gets fined £1.00 for each person attending the day.

W.H.O.G.S. on tour started the second year of the society at Skegness where 16 people attended, we all had plenty to drink and it set the tone of the friendly camaraderie between each of the members.

On this first tour Barry Jones was singing at 8am on the Saturday morning on the putting green. Peter Weston was found asleep in a bunker. Robert Weston sent a ball at 100mph down a road but the ball managed to jump over an oncoming Volvo.

On tours we have visited Barnham Broom, Cottismore, Southampton Marriott and the last couple of years been to Peterborough.

Barnham Broom - Steve Bickel being hit with a spoon so hard it gave him concussion in a contest to find out who could hit the hardest with a spoon in the mouth of your opponent.

Cottismore - Robin Stock and Peter Weston tied the door handle to the railings stopping 2 members from coming out of their room, while the rest of us watched the occupants trying to use a golf club to unhook the door via a small fan light window.

Marriott - Yvette Pearce recalls - Robin Stock and Peter Weston putting shampoo in my kettle, the following morning I put the kettle on and had I'm forever ever blowing bubbles filing the room.
